It is important to have access to therapy no matter your financial status! This is why we offer reduced-rate therapy with our licensed clinical interns, Nitya and Harleen, who are completing their Masters of counselling, and are supervised by seasoned therapists. They also offer free consultations and sessions are typically reimbursed by extended health insurance plans. Sessions are $80 and sliding scale options are available for those facing financial hardship.

    About Harleen (Ria)

BA (Hons), MA (Cand.), Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Not all moments in life are created equally. Certain times in life are harder than others and can be pivotal in their impact on us. During these times, having the right kind of support can make all the difference. You’re here because you’ve taken a vital first step towards finding relief from what is troubling you, whether that is anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, relationship problems, identity struggles, or stress. You have reached this point to learn ways to cope and to heal, which is what I am here to help you do.

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I tailor my approach according to your unique needs, which may involve principles from humanistic, cognitive- behavioural, emotion-focused, and psychodynamic perspectives. I seek to build a strong, respectful, and collaborative and authentic relationship with you through a culturally-informed lens.

While no one can do your inner work for you, who you choose to embark on this journey with can have a huge impact. I may not know what it’s like to walk in every pair of shoes in the world, but I care to understand your experiences walking in yours. If you are seeking non- judgmental and empathetic support on your journey, let’s connect for a meet and greet. I provide therapy in English, Hindi and Punjabi.

Areas of Practice: Anxiety, Self-Esteem/Self-Worth, Perfectionism, Career exploration, Cultural conflict and exploration, Young professionals, Students, Teens, Life transitions, Burnout, Depression, Teens, Marginalized, Newcomers, South-Asian Community

    Meet Nitya

    Honours Bsc., MACP (Cand.)

Do you wish you were more easy going and confident? Would it be nice to be able to stand up for yourself more readily, or not second-guess yourself all time? Do you sometimes feel like you do not belong? Stressful experiences leave a deep imprint on our minds, bodies and even relationships. The effects of these can only be reversed in the context of a trusting relationship. Using attachment science, we’ll uncover patterns affecting your life, work through difficult emotions, and come to new understandings.

If you would like to feel a renewed sense of ease and connection with yourself, so that you can finally experience that with others, you are in the right place.

As a woman of colour, I know how it feels to navigate two cultures and generational differences that can leave you feeling torn and disillusioned, and maybe gaslit when it comes to mental health. Seeking help and prioritizing your wellbeing is a sign of courage, not weakness. Reaching out is the hardest part but you have already made it this far! Let’s work together to figure this out, and build acceptance, self-compassion and confidence.

Nitya provides sessions in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu, and also speaks basic Spanish.

Areas of Practice: Anxiety, Self-Esteem/Self-Worth, Education, Couples Perfectionism, Career exploration, Young professionals, Students, Teens, Marginalized, Newcomers, South-Asian Community and More
