Teen Therapy

Find Effective help for a vulnerable time

Adolescence is a formative time in a person’s development. It is also often a tumulteous time that can be disorienting for many teens given all the changes that teens are experiencing, whether physical, emotional or social. During this time, teens experience immense pressure to be accepted by peers. It is also a time when earlier emotional wounds can resurface before the required coping and emotional regulation skills have developed. For this reason, teens can experience their emotions in a heightened way and have trouble making sense of them or articulating them. This is where a disconnect can happen between teens and their families, further contributing to emotional dysbalance and turmoil.

Building resilience, coping and a healthy sense of self requires work, and the earlier that work starts often the more simple and impactful it is, putting healthy emotional development back on track.

Trauma-Informed

We want you to feel like we are in this together. Your sense of comfort and safety is our top priority.

Tailored

We want to get to know you and your situation so we can find the combination of approaches that fit best and resonate the most with you

Culturally Sensitive

Therapy that ignores culture can feel less than relevant at best. We want to understand what your experience means to you and how you're experiencing it.

Our Approach

We believe that adolescense presents a unique opportunity to bolster a healthy sense of self and a safe and secure sense of attachment to parents, resulting in enhanced resilience and a healthier way of relating to oneself and others.

Teen therapy provides a safe and supportive space for teens to voice, experience and make sense of their feelings in a productive and healthy way, in the presence of a safe and supportive other. Therapy is also a place to experiment with coping tools and techniques and to experience a healthy, respectful and authentic relationship.

Why can’t my teen just talk to me for support?

Discussing emotions with our most loved ones takes vulnerability and feels very much like taking a risk. If someone is not used to this, it can actually be easier to open up to a stranger you don’t know than to a parent you love and whose acceptance you want. Often, teen therapy can be a stepping stone to better familial relationships especially when the therapist practices from an attachment-based approach.

Our team is comprised of licensed therapists with experience in adolescent mental health. They are skilled at creating a non-judgmental and empathetic environment, allowing teens to feel comfortable expressing themselves. Each therapist is committed to helping teens overcome their challenges and reach their full potential.
